If it adds to the atmosphere, then it's fine. That almost never happens.

Product placement is already pretty hit-or-miss, it could be fun or it could destroy the fantasy. If there's an ad banner in some soccer game arena, it can make it feel more real, and it's better than silly mock brands.

E-sports is a bit different, since the focus is on technical gameplay, strategy, and tactics, not the art. Not to say any competitive game should have neon advertisements or uninterruptible truck commercials, everyone hates that.

I really like how you put quotes around "non-intrusive", that's some noisy looking shit.

Call Of Duty Trailer Recklessly Promotes Far-Right Conspiracy Theory

I doubt anyone will see both the rushed editorial and the game trailer and think any differently of CoD. It's a lot harder to hide the truth from people when sources are on youtube.

That said, I didn't notice that Activision censored the trailer for China.

And isn’t that just the whitest damn thing.

Great conclusion, very convincing.

Someone describes the cartoon while inserting their racist perspective. The only surprise is the timing of the article.

I wouldn't jump to conclusions on the memory hole part unless we have more than missing gifs as evidence. Very weird situation though, Doc allegedly wasn't removed by the normal rules enforcers at Twitch, and it's perma so not DMCA. I'm not going to list all the speculation here, but looking on forums and the tubes, it's something to think about while we wait for more.

That excellent piece of games journalism was probably based on this thread: /r/DrDisrespectLive/comments/hi8hml/so_giphy_removed_all_of_docs_gifs/

They removed Doc GIFs before any of this Twitch ban stuff. We use Microsoft Teams at my work and the Doc GIFs I used to message my coworkers who are fellow CC members disappeared several weeks ago.
