I wasn't sure if this was a topic for the main sub, figured the admins would get anal and ban me for it. Basically, former interim CEO of Reddit, Ellen Pao, was aware of Ghislaine Maxwell's providing of underage girls for sex at Epstein's parties, and she did nothing to prompt investigation into the child trafficking ring.
These hypocrites are complicit in child abuse and rape, how come social media isn't blowing up against them?
Yeah, well, Twitter being mad at her doesn't change the fact that she, along with so many other people, are complicit in the abuse and sexual exploitation of children. How come there is no punishment for those who refuse to say something because they put money before other people's safety?
Reminds me of all the celebrities who, in the wake of the Weinstein affair, all proclaimed that they knew about it for years but said and did nothing. Even though they were so financially secure, they could be blacklisted and still live out the rest of their lives in opulent luxury. Supposedly, this was meant to shore up their status and moral legitimacy.
To people in Pao's mindset, it's more about looking good than actually doing good.
Doing good requires actual effort. It could inconvenience you, or even put your livelihood at risk. Reporting sexual abuse to the police/feds? That could cost you some connections!
But looking good? That doesn't really require any effort! After Epstein and Maxwell were arrested, then it's safe to say you knew what was going on!
The plaintiff presented her case first, arguing that men were promoted ahead of women, that ideas coming from women were more quickly dismissed and that women who experienced sexual harassment received little support. Pao claimed that Ajit Nazre, the partner who initiated a sexual relationship with her, was responsible for much of this harassment. Pao said that he began excluding her from important meetings and emails after she ended the relationship. To characterize the company's response, her case explained that $22,000 was deducted from his paycheck once and that there was no strong desire to reprimand him until an outside investigation was able to link him to multiple instances of harassment.

It can soon be expected that Literally every single major corporate executive either knows of someone or is complicit themselves in these crimes.

It is the mindset of someone deeply corrupt and evil. This evil has crept into the tech oligarchy.
To quote the current protesters, "Silence is complicity, silence is vioence."
