It's still a week until F1 2020 comes out and I'm so bored. I'm boycotting nearly every game company that exists over politics and I genuinely can't find anything to play for the week I'm waiting.
What do you all play? Do you boycott the major companies like I do or do you play anything you like and try to ignore where the money goes?
First game, warband?
No love for original Mount and Blade?
First game in years I pulled a legit all nighter playing. Had to do it for the Glory of the Western Empire tho
Replaying Sleeping Dogs again.
Playing FF series on the switch and just started playing Xenoblade Chronicles.
Waiting for f1 2020 as well, and also Cyberpunk. Just canceled my Bloodlines 2 preorder, them dropping Chris Avellone's contribution from the game was the last straw, there was already enough warning signs but them removing content was just a sign that they prefer virtue signaling over providing content to their consumers.
I never got around to playing Sleeping Dogs, I always said I would and just never did. I wonder how long it would take to deliver it.
You're getting it too? Who you planning on picking as your teammate in MyTeam?
I have a bad feeling about 2077. I feel like that one will burn a lot of people. I wouldn't pre-order it if I was you, we've seen hardly anything (unless I missed something) and it's already been delayed twice.
It depends on who they have as the secondaries and if you have the option of choosing some legacy drivers. At the moment Raikonnen, but I will have to do one run at least with Ricciardo, be all patriotic and make an all Aussie team.
If you can go and get past drivers or drivers in other categories then Takuma Sato or maybe Alonso.
Its the only franchise I get every year no matter what, but I'm glad they have brought in this aspect considering way back in the 90's I remember playing a PS1 game that you could do that and also still play a PC game called Grand Prix Manager that is still getting modded to this day.
Sleeping Dogs was good, a good story interesting setting and the difference in combat compared to the GTA games is fun. The driving is a bit off but overall I think its still a great game.
2077 has me worried as well, but I'm trying to ignore all the PR stuff now and hoping that some of the virtue signalling we've been seeing is just marketing and that the actual game will be largely unaffected.
I'll be very surprised if you're allowed to start off with F1 drivers. I'm thinking you'll have to pick an F2 driver as a teammate from the beginning otherwise it'll be too easy.
I doubt that's the case, but I think they should try to do that kind of thing for 2021.
I heard they're bringing in a Battle Pass, like Fortnite. Not sure how to feel about that. You can get new liveries, celebrations and badges apparently.
I might as well try it. At least I'll have something to play for the week.
I feel like wokeness won't be the real issue. I think it'll be a genuinely overhyped game that doesn't meet expectations. Maybe I'm just overly negative.
I'm tempering my expectations. If its as good as Dues Ex Mankind divided and human revolution I will be happy so the bar I am setting isnt that high.
People have crazy expectations but I just want a solid RPG with a good setting and a good story. If it can deliver that I will be happy.
You might be right about the driver line ups but not to sure how it will be implemented. It might just be the current F2 lineup (so Mick Schumacher has to be my pick as a Schumey fan from way back).
Unless I misunderstood their statement, they said that he had left early in development and that pretty much everything he worked on had already been changed.
Almost finished up with Xenoblade Chronicles, the remaster/remake/whatever/don'tcaretoopedantic on the Switch. First time playing it. Shorter than the second one, clocked in around 110 hours or so. Quite enjoyed it. Rockin' music and fun exploration. Overall not quite as good as 2, but has some features it wins out on like fashion customization and the affinity charts for towns/areas. Probably about 5 or 10 more hours and I'll be finished up with the extra story that came with it. Thought it'd just be a cutscene or two but it's a whole area with scenes/quests/sidequests/all that.
Also playing Rabi Ribi, a solid metroidvania where you play as a cleavage bunny girl with an underboob loli fairy companion and fight waifus. Weeb as fuck, but pretty fun metroidvania/touhou-like bullet hell combination.
Not quite sure what to play after I'm done with Xenoblade. Nothing's really popping out in my Steam library. Was thinking of finally digging into LOTRO. I'm one of those mmo players that primary enjoys the quests and exploration and solo play, so it's pretty much perfect for that.
Felt the same as you after playing xenoblade DE but can you imagine 2 with 1's customization options. Especially if they went all out and you could do it for blades as well as the drivers.
Recently played bloodstained which is also a pretty solid metroidvania if you're into those and haven't tried it.
On a separate note, I have the same feeling after finished DE that I had after 2...which is that there is a hole in my gaming life that no jrpg fills quite like a xenoblade game haha.
Luckily they're both close to 200 hours if you do all the side content and stuff so despite leaving a hole, you certainly get to spent plenty of time with them.
You could try DQ 11 S if you like JRPGs or Fire Emblem 3 houses. Both are great Switch JRPGs. Granted, fire emblem is more tactics than JRPG. But it has a lot of RPG elements.
I played Yakuza Kiwami a bit tonight. So far I'm loving the series if you would be interested in a Japanese crime drama. The story drags a bit though imo.
I haven't boycotted a studio yet over politics but Naughty Dog might be the first. I almost never buy games at full price and on launch anyway. Most studios don't get more than $20 out of me. I have many many many games to play I've already bought there's just no reason.
Looking forward to Cyberpunk and Ghost of Tsushima mostly as far as new games go. I really hope the latter isn't all SJW filled with it being Sony.
At this point I'll try anything that's both available on my console of choice and isn't from a company I'm boycotting. So if it's on Xbox I'll try it!
ND should definitely be the first. Or EA. "No Pixels for Fascists" was pretty bad.
I feel like everything Sony exclusive will be extremely woke.
Yeah the Yakuza games are starting to release on Xbox. If you have the game pass Yakuza 0 (chronological first in the series) is on there. Japanese game so there's no feminism and social justice.
The whole Sony thing bugs me on Ghost of Tsushima...it's supposed to be from the 13th century but they seem to push an agenda. The only saving grace I think it's also designed to appeal to the Japanese audience and they won't like that stuff. I have only had a PS4 about a year and was loving some of the games I'd never played but if they keep it up PS4 will be as far as I go. It's not even a boycott, just when have those woke games ever been any fun?
Mostly Animal Crossing, because I'm an addict.
Also trying to play through The Last of Us again, to get the taste of The Last of Us Part II out of my mouth, but it's... it's not as good of a game as I remember. I find myself longing for Uncharted.
You actually bought TLOU2?
Have to be honest, I thought everyone here would boycott that one.
Oh god no. I watched a playthrough, if only to see this "context" that everyone said I needed before judging the shit quality of the story. Turns out it was much worse than I initially assumed.
Civ 5 and CKII. I’m finally going to buy the last CKII DLCs I need during this steam sale, which is exciting. I had most of the “essential” ones for awhile but I hear Holy Fury is a must have and there’s a decent bundle with the rest so I’m biting the bullet!
You should give Cid Meier Alpha Centauri a try if you haven't already. Best Civ game imo.
RetroUSB AVS and an Everdrive
I'm thinking about started up Diablo 2 for the first time in a long, long time.
Japanese studios aren't typically cucked with SJW politics, are they?
laughs awkwardly at Nintendo BLM tweet.
No. It was just Nintendo of America. Japan does not mix politics into their business. It is very frowned upon to do that there.
I’m playing Persona 5 Royal a JRPG. Atlus is one studio I can always depend on to develop a great game.
Still hooked on Animal Crossing. Glad that they keep updating it with new features (even if it was stuff that was in previous games).
Haven't touched the Pokémon or Smash DLC yet, so I wanna revisit those sometime soon.
Also liking Clubhouse Games 51. Yeah, it's just a bunch of board/card/casual games, but they're done really well here (apparently, you can even flip the table by flipping the Switch!).
Enter the gungeon. Its a procedurally generated game that ive been playing on and off for a few months. A full game takes between 60 to 90 minutes. Its good fun and addictive.
I used to be way into it. I had the contraband weapon and a butterfly knife fade and I was MG2. I sold up before they shut down the real money sites, but I eventually fully quit when they announced the BR mode and free to play.
I had my one and only rage quit playing CSGO. Broke a monitor.
Final fantasy 14. Best mmo out there. Pretty much zero politics and the game is still super fun.
Still sorta scraping about in division 2.
Im basically in a holding pattern until 2077 comes out.
https://store.steampowered.com/app/548430/Deep_Rock_Galactic/
Play a gun-toting space dwarf.
Go down onto missions on a bug infested planet.
Mine minerals and try to survive.
Get drunk and pass out back on the station.
Interesting.
"Wishlisted" (by which I mean, added to "wishlist" so that they see that there are Linux-only people who would buy the game. It's annoying that Steam set things up such that either a) the wishlist isn't usable as a, well, wishlist, or b) no-one sees that Linux-only folk want a game, but that's a rant for anther day.)
Phantasy Star Online 2. They're doing a Konosuba crossover soon.
Final fantasy 14. Best mmo out there. Pretty much zero politics and the game is still super fun.
Battle Brothers with the Legends mod. I dunno if it's worth it, but it was cheaper than normal.
Great game (I’m a sucker for permadeath), but I only played it through once. What’s the legends mod?... I may have to give it a second run through
Legends adds a bunch of stuff:
https://www.nexusmods.com/battlebrothers/mods/60/
You're better off reading it, it's a lot to post. It adds some QoL stuff plus new things. It's not completely balanced, it's a beta/WIP.
You sometimes get weird stuff like donkeys (pack animals) with donkey heads and human bodies. I assume that's a bug...
Assassin's Creed 2, Borderlands series and Bloodborne.
Witcher 3. I boycott Blizzard and anything EA without question. Devs who shit on their fanbase get excluded too
Did you get punted from KiA2?
Sort of? I got a 12 day ban for breaking the protected groups rule because I said it's usually female mods who abuse their power.
Also, I'm pretty sure AoV is mad at me for celebrating GenderCritical finally getting purged.
I should really try it some time. Everyone says it's great.
Just so you know, Blizzard is Activision too. And yeah, I wish my list was that short. At some point I'll post my full list somewhere.
Ah, I'd say he's only irritated because it was the biggest sub that criticised transgenderism
It's definitely really, really good. I'm just not understanding why people call it the GOAT. But I've just hit the final stretch where shit goes off the rails, and have not done the expansions yet
I did, yes. Basically avoid anything Kotick is involved with. I had a look over Activision's game list and I didn't see anything I had bought or be interested in. I guess there's Sekiro, but no game is worth throwing away principles, and there's plenty of other shit to play
Since everyone has been at home lately due to the Commie Cough (kids were doing online schooling until recently, I've been working from home since March, and my wife works from home at least twice a week), we've been doing a lot more tabletop stuff to keep everyone from going stir crazy.
I've been the DM for a homebrew D&D campaign for about two months now, and things there are really starting to pick up. Since my wife is a big fan of spy movies, I've been adding a lot of that to this current story arc. Things like sending coded messages via dead drop locations, political scheming, heist planning, etc. I also have a few things like UV and heat reactive ink coming in soon to add an additional layer later on in the campaign.
I've also been using this time to both whittle down and increase my mini painting backlog. I'm currently (slowly) working through my Mythos minis; I currently have all of the Priory models painted and am getting through the Hidden Ones slowly because I made some nice custom bases for them & have to paint them on a separate base to avoid ruining them. I also have a good number of WIld West Exodus models to paint as well for demos once things are back to normal.
When I got my merit bonus earlier this year, I picked up a resin 3D printer so I can churn out models and small terrain as needed for my D&D games, which has been a big help.I have a couple slabs of insulation foam in the garage for bigger terrain pieces coming soon.
Been playing Classic WoW on and off since it came out. Recently finished Return of the Obra Dinn, and I picked up Sekiro, among other things, during the Steam. Not much of a Souls players, but it looked super cool.
Currently playing through FF7:Remake and honestly its not bad
They deff did tifa justice there
Up until about a week ago, I was getting pretty serious about Civilization V the last few months, but my hatred for Alexander was too great, so I ordered a game that I missed at launch and forgot about for a good long while: Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor. Haven't actually sat down with it yet since it just came in this afternoon, but I definitely expect good things from it.
Amid Evil
90's kind of FPS (think quake single player). Has some pretty cool and trippy visuals.
Black Ops III and Remember Me
just finished Titanfall 2 campaign, incredible, highly recommend
I already have Titanfall 2. I don't even remember buying it! I guess I might as well play through the campaign then.
Battlefront 2
I buy a lot of mine used. Kind of helps with the "where the money goes". And lately I've been playing Horizon zero dawn and sniper elite 4. Both pretty fun and apolitical (so far)
Morta's children, a great Diablo-like, with tons of characters, abilities and a gorgeous pixel art style. My other time sink is Stardew Valley, which is basically the best features of all Harvest Moon games rolled into one game.
